RHO EPSILON OMEGA CHAPTER was chartered on Saturday, January 23, 1988 at the Westboro Marriott by Idell Pugh, North Atlantic Regional Director. Charter members include: Marion Amory, Earline Briggs, Cynthia Brown-Moore, Theresia Carrington, Clemmie Cash, Jerline Dixon, Debra Earls, Dorothy Frauenhofer, Elsie Grain, Mary Greaves, Ann Gumbs, Roberta Gutman, Donna Hardy, Millicent Hill, Ruth Arlene Howe, Jean Hurd, Yvonne Jenkins, Willyne Johnson, Pamela Lathan, Patricia Long, Dorothy McLeod, Helen Moore, Margaret Moore, Janet Palmer-Owens, Enid Rocha, Marcia Roebuck-Hoard, Sheilah Shaw-Horton, Deanna Staton-Gross, Marian Taylor, Paula Wright.
Over the past twenty years, Rho Epsilon Omega continues to strengthen in membership and works diligently to be of “Service To All Mankind”. Past Presidents (in order of service) include; Helen Moore, Jean Hurd, Sheilah Shaw Horton, Sheila Goodwin, Rebecca McLeod Barnett, Tiffany Blackwell, Sheila Shaw Horton, Kimmie Jackson, Dawn McNair, and Jean Robinson.Rho Epsilon Omega upholds the ideals of the Sorority by providing college scholarships to students from the Metro West area majoring in math or science. In 2006 we awarded four $1,000 scholarships. Through its commitment to the international programs, 10 students from BrightonHigh School participate in the IvyAcademy a mentoring and development program for African American young ladies. Activities include job shadowing, cultural events, and a variety of workshops. In support of the Black Family (F.I.R.S.T. - Families Involved in Redefined Survival Techniques) the chapter has adopted Sage House in Framingham, MA a support home for women in recovery and their children. Chapter members volunteer at Sage House assisting the children with reading and working on art and craft projects. In addition, food baskets are donated to several African American families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. Some of the Chapter’s annual events include: raising money for Multiple Sclerosis, AIDS, Walk for Hunger, and American Breast Cancer walkathons.Rho Epsilon Omega hosted the l992 Cluster V Leadership Conference and co-hosted the 1997 North Atlantic Regional Conference.
